NZITT Membersip Categories and Criteria

Membership of NZITT recognises New Zealand national qualifications in travel, tourism and hospitality, IATA/UFTAA diplomas, NZIM/ATTTO Diplomas, university degrees with major tourism content, and equivalent qualifications from overseas, that are recognised by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority. The Institute also accepts as members, persons who joined the industry prior to the introduction of structured industry and whose skill, service, and responsibility make them eligible for membership. NZITT encourages industry employees without formal qualifications to undertake workplace assessment under the Recognition of Current Competencies, and Recognition of Prior Learning schemes offered by ATTTO, both of which can result in current qualifications.

The Institute works closely with the Travel Agents Association and the ATTTO in ensuring that membership recognition is accorded for qualifications and skills sought by the industry. The Criteria for Membership at levels for Student, Graduate, Associate and Member are under review as at January 2006 in response to industry surveys conducted by the ATTTO and TAANZ.
